Mia Davies preselected as The Nationals’ candidate to fight for Bullwinkel

Leader of The Nationals David Littleproud has congratulated Mia Davies on her preselection as The Nationals’ candidate for Bullwinkel.

Mr Littleproud said Ms Davies is a passionate community advocate who understood the crippling cost-of-living pressures being faced by local families under the Albanese Labor Government’s incompetent economic management.

“Labor policies are damaging the local economy by shutting down long-standing Western Australian industries and driving up the cost-of-living for families,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Under Labor’s economic mismanagement, electricity prices have increased by 22 per cent, we’ve seen 12 mortgage rate hikes, and the price of food and groceries is up more than 11 per cent. Mia remains committed to fighting for farming communities impacted by Labor’s live sheep exports ban and is campaigning for families feeling the budget squeeze in local suburbs and rural communities.

“Western Australia needs a local champion to take the fight up to the Albanese Government to protect local communities and their way of life. It’s why I am thrilled that Mia has decided to step back into politics and take up the fight on a federal level.”

Mia Davies said it is a great privilege to have been pre-selected by The Nationals WA as their inaugural candidate for Bullwinkel.

“After 16 years in the State Parliament, time spent in the Cabinet as a senior Minister, as Leader of the Party, and Opposition, my passion for advocacy and standing up for WA’s best interest is stronger than ever,” Ms Davies said.

“Western Australia delivered this Federal Labor Party to Government, and we’ve had nothing but pain since. Our state is an economic powerhouse and I’ll be working hard to earn the trust of communities across Bullwinkel and take the fight for a better future to Canberra.”

Mr Littleproud added Mia broke glass ceilings and rose through the political ranks in state politics, due to her hard work ethic, strong morals and tenacious attitude.

“I consider Mia to be a good friend, who I enjoy a close working relationship with. I also have a huge amount of respect for Ms Davies, because she is a strong leader and never wavers from her beliefs,” Mr Littleproud said.

“I look forward to having Mia in The Nationals’ federal team.”
